I set 42 eggs last night also, I don't know what will come of it as far as breed goes because I have a mixed flock. I have a rir and an ee roo, the hens are rir, new hampshire red, br, ee, white rock, so who knows how colorful they will be! :), good luck all!

wow... i have a banty polish rooster with my EE RIR and BLRW hens...but have not tried to hatch any of these...but it would be fun to see what would come out of them...

Good morning all. Hope things are going well at your end. I seem to be having temp issues - was up at 100 degrees, then fell yesterday to 98 and stayed there. So I am nudging the thermostat, waiting a couple of hours, nudging it again. Still at 98 this morning. Now I've put one plug in (both plugs were out) and put a blankie over half the incubator while trying not to block any vent holes.

I should also note that, with shipped eggs inside, I decided to leave the turner off for at least three days, maybe four. What I've read suggests 7 days without turning, but I couldn't figure a way to turn only the non-shipped eggs with the automatic turner in the incubator. So 3 days is a sort of compromise. I'm hoping that won't affect the non-shipped eggs too badly. Any thoughts?

I don't think you'll have a prob with those temps... a momma chicks gets off her eggs to eat sometimes..so the temp goes down... as long as you don't go over 102,lower would be better... imo...

nice...good luck on your hatch too... have you set eggs b4? I've done it 5 times...and not the greatest of hatches either, but all of mine have been shipped eggs... one was def. my fault... i must of hit the cord and unplugged everything... that was a sad day for me... in was in the middle of the hatch and nothing came out of...one tried, but got caught, too dry... it was awful...

Sorry to hear about that hatch, I would've been very very sad. I have hatched before, some good, some bad. I am hoping that this ends up being a good one. These are shipped eggs, but have heard good things about others that have hatched some of these. You never know when you do shipped eggs. What kind of incubator do you use? I have a Brinsea 20 advance. I love it. But it takes a lot of the stress and worry out of it, to me that helps. This is only my second year having chickens, so I am still pretty new.

welcome to the hatch :D

i really wish i could have chickens :( i wouldnt even care if they where complete mutts (excuse the expresion) but we live in the middle of a city/large town and even thought we have a private garden its still a flat we live in so chicken would just be too big for me to keep
