Well, this weekend will be the first time I've ever completely filled my Dickey 2x2. Completely full. Not room for one more egg.

First in two weeks ago was sixteen White Midget turkey eggs that I bought from Steve at S&S followed a week later by sixteen Cuckoo Maran eggs also from Steve. Tonight I set the first of the eggs I'll need for the hatching exhibition I'm putting on at the county fair for the 4-H program. The remaining eggs will be set in two phases tomorrow and Sunday. They're already washed and in the trays waiting their turn. Eighty one in all so that I can be sure of having forty viable eggs at Day 19. I'll almost certainly have more than I need, but I want to be sure I've got enough for the display since this is my first time ever doing this at a fair.

That done we candled the turkey eggs to take out three clears. The rest of that tray will be filled with the first twenty seven White Midget turkey eggs from my own birds tomorrow.

Soon I'm going to have chicks and poults coming out of my ears. Finishing the double decker brooder has now become a do-or-die project!

Along with forty turkey eggs and fifteen Cuckoo Maran eggs it's now completely full.

I overfilled my bator too

I set 52 eggs in my Genesis and the turner only holds 42! I also rushed to clean the bator and put the new eggs in about 20 minutes after I removed the last chicks from my previous hatch. My husband doesn't know that I'm thinking about getting a second bator for a hatcher

Of course a hatcher COULD be used for incubating too.

I'm seriously thinking of getting a hatcher too as soon as I can think of a way to sell the wife on the idea...

Best thing I ever did was to separate the incubating and hatching. I made mine from a wine cooler and it ROCKS!!
