It's going to be super cold.

I didn't really expect there to be much ice. In the past sometimes the peafowl's water gets a very very thin layer of ice and they can still get a drink without me taking the ice out (I still take it out anyways) but today was different. I have never seen this much ice in the water before! Wow it was like an inch and at first when I tapped it I though the whole thing was frozen. Now that I know there is a big ice issue, tomorrow before school I will stop by my Grandmas and take out the ice.

My boys looking at the big ice block. Peep is the one there closest to the Ice. The white is of course Frosty, the young male is Smarty and the other adult male is Alto.

We have all of the outside faucets dripping to keep the lines from freezing and the shower next to the pool did not want to drip, so we had to just let it have a little stream of water running. Well this is what that little stream turned into. A giant ice cycle. I have seen ice cycles on trips to other places, but not in Florida.

It was really cool you could hear the ice popping.

Some unfortunate azalea leaves.

I liked the pattern in this one.

Looks like you are in Oklahoma! This is one of the coldest winters we have had in a long time. My peas will not come out of their house and my guinias will not let their feet touch the snow!

Here in South Dakota we just had a very cold last couple of day! We had a wind chill between -35 and -45. But thankfully all my peafowl survived. Their water was froze all the way through.

Well it is getting warmer. It was high 40's and even into low 50's today. The ice was mostly all melted. I broke up the tiny bits of ice left into bite size pieces for my silly peas. They love eating it.

My peachicks love eating snow! They did figure out after our first snow that it was cold after standing in it for a while, so they will try reaching down from the door of their shed to eat some snow. Only the two peachicks that free ranged with IB peahen willingly go outside. But these days I do not let them out much since it is too cold.

New forecast is in for next week. Calling for overnight lows on Sunday and Monday nites at -4 degrees with winds again,so the windchill will be horrific here. Since my coming 2 year old bunch will not go into the coop at night, tonight I went out and picked all 30 of them up,and moved into the nearby chickenhouse.. They are used to seeing the chickens around their pens in the summer but they have never been "with" them per say as all in a group.Sunrise tomorrow morning maybe interesting in there. Don't really have any mean roosters, theres only 4 anyway and the largest is a Black Langshan but he's scared of his shadow. Coincidently for several days next week, temps won't get above 10 degrees here so this maybe their permanent home for the rest of the winter here.

This has been the coldest weather we've had in 20 years. I've only had my Peas for 19 years, so I have had them locked in the barn as well, they are starting to get restless.

Ours froze all the way through in PA as well. I could have built an ice block igloo last week.
