It's going to be super cold.

DylansMom,that buildings long enough for your birds to ask for FAA clearance for flight. Any outside pens?

Yes, but we ripped down the old runs last fall, because they were getting ready to collapse. as soon as our weather improves we will be putting up new ones, going to reconfigure things a little as well. It is a monster of a barn, 2 stories -160' x 40', we have absolutely nothing on the second floor and less than 2/3 of it is pea pens on the first floor. The nice thing is it is double walled with actual insulation between the walls so it's nice and snug, which was a blessing this past winter. And they are pretty funny when they decide to fly down the center aisle and out the end. Our green and his kids live in this one, it's heated.

I love using panels it is fun to change things up and get a new look.
Nice setup you got going.

Not that it's going to be super cold(uppper 40's at night) but it's forecast we could get over 4" of rain the next 5 days here. I'm glad we put grass hay down on the inside of the breeding pens, otherwise the males trains would be so full of dirt and mudd they would be ruined.

I am hoping the weather will be good for all of the elephant ear bulbs I planted. If I can't get them to grow well I might find a local master gardener and ask if they can teach me how to have a tropical garden. I planted 2 elephant ear bulbs inside the peafowl pen also. I saw a photo of a green peacock at the Bronx zoo and the exhibit had a huge elephant ear, and also from last year's visit to a zoo I noticed they used a lot of elephant ears in their bird aviary, so I think they will be fine in the pen. I just hope the peafowl don't gobble them up if they do grow well.

I hope I can get mine to grow. I love giant tropical plants (but I can't get any of mine to get giant). I got a gift card for Amazon for Christmas and I recently spent it all mostly on plants. I am really excited for them to come in. One of the things I got is a few seeds for Musa Sikkimensis bananas and I hope I can grow them. I am very new to sprouting things from seed but I learned a trick that putting seeds on a wet paper towel and placing it in a zip lock bag near the window can help them sprout...At least it worked for the dragonfruit seeds I collected.
