It's been building for a while. Turned 50 a couple weeks ago. Had my knee scoped 5 weeks ago, cartilage and a bunch of bone spurs cleaned up. Had a MRI done on the heal of my other leg, which has been giving me trouble for a couple years. Comes back a couple days before my knee sugery that I have a high grade partial tear of the achilles tendon. So now I wear a "boot" when I have physical therapy, doctor apt. or have to do much walking. The knee is giving me a lot more trouble than I expected, and this is from a guy with two artifical hips, so been down this road before. Did some new exercises in therapy yesterday, was shaking like a little girl, sweat running off me, not bouncing back like I had hoped, but dealing with it.

The thing that drove it home today was, of all things, the laundery hanging out on the line. For the first time in recent history, going into late summer, there are no uniforms, practice jerseys, or related paraphernalia in the wash.

I took a shot a few years ago of the clothes line in the fall, trees in full color, line full of uniforms, memories.

Brother, I truly wish you a quick recovery, and I hope, that you get better soon.

It hits home with me when I start talking about what a great band Bad Company was and Paul Rogers is now leading Queen, and the kids look at me with puzzled faces. My kids are 19-27 YEARS. Crap.

Not to hijack the thread but amen on the Bad Company comment and Paul Rogers. Love listening to that band! Silver, Blue and Gold my all time favorite song from them.

Hang in there Big Medicine, keep doing your therapy and it will improve. Age slows down the recovery but it will get there and you will be better off than if you had let them go and not dealt with issues.

Hang in there Big Med! You are sounding depressed. I'm so sorry you are feeling old and having a hard time with this scope. Try to look at it this way - at least you are lucky to have made it long enough to feel old. You have always sounded like a funny guy, so your good humor will be catching up with you shortly. It's out there somewhere looking for you. A lot of times ya just feel old when you hurt.

I've had 7 knee scopes and then my orthopedic just gave up and replaced them. Helped A LOT with the pain. There just isn't anything good to say about weight bearing joints going bad, except they feel so much better when they are gone.

Good luck and keep plugging away at that physical therapy! PT is really great stuff.

I hear ya!

I will be 40 next month and suddenly, I feel old. A couple days ago I found myself at Sams Club standing in front of a display that said Stylish Reading Glasses 3 for $19.99

It totally is smuck how unfair aging is on the body. How bout those - mystery pains? Go to bed fine, and wake in the morning feeling like you were beat by a bronc! Woke up Tuesday and you would have thought Monday I had tried to rip my thumb off - and no I did not! - but my thumb still pains and somehow I must have pulled all the muscles and tendons in it (in my sleep

).

Sending you healing vibes.

I know forty doesn't bounce back like thirty did. But thirty is now a fading memory, and fifty is closing fast. I don't think aging is for the faint of heart. The mystery pains are annoying, but I was looking at old pictures recently...shocking! Less than ten years ago, my hair was undyed and dark; as of this year I've stopped coloring it and it is white in places. I look in the mirror and see this fat, old chick and wonder how I can look so different from my interior self. ARGHHH!!!!

You're not getting old, just turning a page and getting deeper into the story that is life. I turned 70 a couple of years ago and am wondering when I'm supposed to officially feel old. Enjoy life, keep busy and never look back--something may be gaining on you.
