It's Marek's. How long does she have?

I don't know if it would make a difference at this point, but you could try giving her St. John's Wort. I had a rooster that we suspected had Marek's, and he made a full recovery. He couldn't move his legs for a few days, but they are completely healed now.

We got it in a liquid form, not pill form like this person said, but it worked for us. I hope your hen's legs heal! I love the picture by the way, that is so sweet.

Yup! It's been two and a half months. She's lived inside the whole time. She's not able to walk currently, so we keep her in a sling chair my husband and I made, and she also enjoys spending time in her small, cushy, dog bed. We put a removable roosting bar in her shopping chair, and just recently she's started really growing into it, which she couldn't have done after I first saw symptoms. I'll take some pictures later.

But I'm going to send out samples for testing for Mareks thanks to that previous poster who shared the link to that research lab. I'll let everyone know how it comes out!
I have a very similar situation going! Where are you sending your samples? I can't seem to find that post!

I am dealing with mareks in my flock now and was told 7-10 days and it could show as anything. I had one hen that showed signs of wry neck but it was mareks. She lived tho. I treat with poultry cell in eggs and vitamin b complex pill for people and feed tuna. I have only lost 1 rooster that i had the necropsy done on. The first hen to show signs got so bad she was completely paralyzed on her side but 2 months later she is standing and her toes aren't curled anymore. She still can't walk even though she can get around so I made her a sling and she is improving. It's a lot of time, patience and calling the vet for advice.

I'm sending mine to Research Associates Laboratory in Austin, TX. The website is https://www.vetdna.com/ It's only 20 bucks to get the testing done. Pretty cool!! I live in Maryland, so the only way around here to do testing for Marek's is post-mortem, so this is awesome.

Thanks for the link. I just ordered testing supplies.

I got on this thread looking for answers to the same questions as the original poster. With one additional. Has anyone ever raised chicks or had an exposed chicken ever raise her own chicks again after an outbreak?

Long story short, one of my "vaccinated" chicks died about three weeks ago at around six month's of age. The necropsy came back as Marek's. Ug! She limped for about four months before suddenly passing. Vet thought she had a congenital deformity and didn't consider Marek's either because was "vaccinated."

My flock is a mix of ~20 supposedly pre-vaccinated when I bought them and a few ~10 of their offspring (until three days ago non-vaccinated). The vet vaccinated everyone about three days ago, but says it will take about 10 days to become effective. I could have some that are already sick and contagious but not showing symptoms. At this point, I assume everyone has been exposed.

I am in the ninth circle of hell anxiously watching for the slightest change in behavior.

How much of the liquid St. Johns Wort did you give?

How much of the liquid St. Johns Wort did you give?
I don't know the measurements, but it was probably a few tablespoons of water to maybe two or three teaspoons of the liquid. I didn't give it all at one time. I had a syringe that I filled up a couple of times and just pushed the mixture out on his beak, which seemed to work. I did that a few times a day. I don't think the measurements matter too much, just as long as the bird is getting enough.
