huh? what ghost?

Just an expression..

When do you give up that the eggs will hatch?

Wait until they have been sitting for at least 23 days. I gave up on my hens hatching a long time ago. I just collect the eggs and hatch them myself. So many hens want to sit and all they end up doing is crushing the eggs or the eggs spoil. The couple that did hatch, I never even saw the baby, so I guess it was a ghost baby.

Good luck any way. If they eggs are no good the hen usually disposes of them herself.

Well 4 and 0... Hens 4 me 0.. I have 2 broody on 1 cluth of eggs...
Good thing I took them out of the bator and stuck them under those hens...

Try getting the air circulator, or better yet, a Hovabator. I have had both; I hated the LG and fell in love with the Hovabator. First hatch in the Hovabator and I got 90%!

Calebs Acre Nancy was nice enough to send me duck eggs...I candeled them last night...Guess what I see veining and bodies..

I used a still air for my 1st two tries.

1st "Hatch" - 0 out of 12 eggs
2nd "Hatch" - 0 out of 12 eggs
3rd try with a forced air incubator - 19 chicks out of 24!

They are 2 weeks old today and growing fast.

Keep trying!

Check your thermometers and hydrometers. They may be inaccurate, and then your temperatures are inaccurate. Get to know your tools, and you will do well. I get 75-100% hatch rates, and have since I started incubating. Maybe I am just lucky, but I think it's mostly a) having enough tools and b) knowing how they work and how to use them.

I am in florida as well. i am doing 35% and 100 temp. they say anything over 101 is bad. To much humidity is bad, I also am trying dry hatching so.....
