Its snowing!

Now we have around an inch and counting

and I have to clean out the chicken coop

The snow is too much for me...

Okay, well I guess I must have lied about my girls not being bothered by the snow... My dad and I just went outside to get the snow off some of the trees (the short ones and because of the leaves the branches are being weighed down alot) and we decided to go down and see how the chickens were doing, but couldn't find them anywhere. We looked and looked and finally we heard some quiet clucking and we found all our hens hiding under the deck all huddled up. We tried chasing them out, but they were terrified of the 3 inch deep snow, So I called my mom out for reinforcements and we took the chickens, one by one, and put them in the coop. My hands are still defrosting!!

i just realized it started snowing again here. i better go put the free rangers away

we're supposed to get a foot and a half and it was in the 80's a week ago

The nor easter is missing me!!!! I am happy, although we are getting close to 60mm of rain and 80+ Km winds. lets hope the temps don't drop.

Yep, snow already... Tons of apples on the trees... Wooly bears with little or no black... Everyone's saying bad winter. And that nor'easter is on its way...

My new girls are not enjoying their first snow. The other night the 6 of them were settled down for bed in the barn where they'd spent the whole day. I had to carry them to the coop. Silly birds... That icky cold white stuff makes their feet freeze.

Our puppy, on the other hand, is loving it. Running around in circles because the snow makes his feet slip, grabbing mouthfuls whenever possible, refusing to come inside because it's so awesome... Yup. Riley likes snow.

As for me, I'm okay with it I guess. I got all my electrical stuff fixed up yesterday, so the girls' water won't freeze, and the heat lamp can be turned on if necessary (i.e. 10* or less). It still is not what I like -- the house is cold and I don't like going outside very much because I wear glasses and when I go outisde and then come back inside they fog up like crazy and it drives me crazy... But oh well. My best friend lives in Russia and she was telling me how she wishes they had snow... She can have it if she wants it... That's fine by me...

Still snowing here, been snowing all day. Has to be a couple inches by now, but I haven't been out recently to check. My dogs are loving the snow. Our lab/pointer mix keeps running up to me and then down the hall. He loves to run around in the snow. Our shepherd loves to eat the snow. Silly dogs.

I'm thinking we're at about 5 inches or so now. Weather report is saying 16"

Good thing we just moved to New York state!

This is the first snow for almost all of my chickens and we haven't even been able to build our new coop yet. They've been "dealing" with my old meat chicken tractor because that was small enough to move with us. Who knew we'd have snow so soon though??
