yes 30! 10 of them are only silkies the rest are different breeds. Although I won't be keeping most of them since we don't have enough space for 30 + the 6 we have.

i'd say you have the space for 30. but if you want less, there seems to be a good market for them here so you could cull the undesirable.
Hey, if you ever decide to make an incubator/brooder, pet stores in the area keep the large styrofoam coolers they get fish in. i snagged a large one today from fish pro's.

Well we tore down the 'fence house' and we're building a coop that's much smaller. We don't have them free-ranging anymore due to the predators aka cats & dogs.
ETA- I'm done with incubators! I threw mine away a few hours ago because I accidently spilled water on it! this is the second incubator I've thrown away because of that.

Yeah, us too. we'll keep the standards but slowly phase them out. the white silkies are bantams. so are the frizzle polish we are thinking to get in April. Smaller chickens but more chickens. the eggs will be smaller, but i'll just use two instead of one.
It is "fuzzy math" maybe. but i figure if the chickens are half the size we can twice as many.

kinda like the Double Mint Gum.
Exactly... last time I went to Gebo's they had chicks. I want to buy some but I have 30 chicks on the way and that would be too much chicken lol. I might get some next week (if they still have them)
