After yesterday, me three! Got a lot of chores done outside before this heat wave we're due to have this week. I'm still beat! Thank goodness it's Sunday and I have nowhere to be! Maybe I'll take a page out of Casper's book and get a cat nap in sometime today.

Maybe he will even nap with you.

Suspicious... Something's going on and he just knows it...

What is going on is a vet appointment this afternoon. He's been shaking his head, digging at his right ear, and holding that ear tilted weird sometimes, so we're getting that checked out today. Fortunately he's perfectly at home there at the vet's office, it's just the car ride there and back that he gets dramatic about. I'll keep y'all posted!

I hope he is ok? Is it a ear infection maybe because thats what my pups do.

I'm sure he will be fine. Other than acting like that ear is bothering him, he's been Casper as usual. I imagine it must be an ear infection or something similar based on his behavior, so hopefully we'll have that fixed up pretty quick.

Why am I not surprised that he is totally at home at the vet?!
Maybe if you let him drive he would be OK in the car too.

I know!! Right from his first vet appointment with us, he comes out of his cat carrier in the room and just pokes around like he's familiarizing himself with a new section of his house, not concerned in the least. He lets the vet and vet techs pick him up and hold him. He's just a real chill guy there.

As far as letting him drive, maybe that would work--but then I'm sure I'd be the one being dramatic as he drove all over the road!

Yes. There is that. He might have to confine you in a pet carrier!


I wish my cats were chill at the vet. It is hard to explain that this hissing, spitting ball of fangs and claws is actually a real sweetheart who slept all night on my head purring into my ear!

Ah, yeah, that would be hard to explain. But I'm sure those familiar with cats understand that they generally do not do well with change.

Casper's the first cat I or my family has had who's been like this, so he's definitely the exception to that rule. Even Keiko, calm as she was here, was anxious at the vet and would usually spend the whole time either hiding under the bench in the room or trying to squeeze through the little porthole in the cabinets that let to the trash bin so that she could hide in there. Thankfully she didn't fit!

It's an ear infection, as suspected. One week of daily ear drops in both ears, and they cleaned his ears out while we were there, too. Casper was just as much of a ham as always, of course.

...And then what sounded like a large dog went down the hallway outside the door and he got a bit more quiet and serious. And, of course, after the ear exam and cleaning he was simply done with everything, poor boy. We're home now and he went up to my room (aka his room) to mope.
