Another weekend Casper fix for y'all :love

Why choose between a sun patch and a paper bag when you can have both? 🤭

You can't really see it in this picture, but he's jammed himself into a tiny box that my brother-in-law was using for a dice tray. It was obviously left there for him, you know 😁

Just what I needed to start the week!

Hi Casper fans! Sorry for neglecting this thread so much!

Casper has been through the ringer this past month or so. It started several weeks ago with him trying to use his litter box one morning and only getting drops of urine out. A trip to the emergency vet later and he was diagnosed with Feline Idiopathic Cystitis. We gave him an anti-inflammatory med for 3 days, his litter box uses went back to normal, and things were fine.

Then about 2 weeks ago, he had a relapse. So, another vet trip later, another round of anti-inflammatory, a urinalysis to confirm no UTI, and he is now on a prescription diet to help alleviate the crystals in his urine that are causing his FIC to flare up. He was supposed to go on a partial-kibble-partial-wet-food diet because wet food is better for hydration but I was concerned that 100% wet food wouldn't be great on his dental health in the long run and his vet agreed since he has a history there. However, he has hated all of the wet food we've tried, so we're still trying to find one he'll actually eat. He has taken to the kibble portion of his new diet just fine, though, and so far no further relapses. :fl We also got him a fancy water fountain as I guess cats like moving water and it's supposed to encourage him to drink more, but so far he looks at it with intense suspicion and I've only seen him sample it one time. :idunno

Anyway, I have a bunch of pictures to catch y'all up on!

You'll be happy to know he is keeping up on his beauty rest. 🥰

Not to worry, though, because he still keeps a close eye on things around here. No one's getting away with anything suspicious under Casper's watch!

Awww. Poor baby. Once my cats got used to it they started to love their water fountain. But it did take a few days.
Mind you, one of my cats does drown her toys in the water fountain which is a bit of a pain!

What an ordeal! Poor Caspar and poor you too!
I am glad that he is better and will hopefully take to his drinking fountain soon.

There may be some raccoon genes pushing to the surface?! :p

He took to it pretty quickly and now uses it almost exclusively except for when he's closer to the dog's waterer. I would think with his refined palate that he wouldn't want to drink the dog's drooly leftovers, but what do I know. 🤭 Thankfully, he's yet to attempt drowning a toy in it--here's hoping that remains the truth! 😬

We've had a rollercoaster getting a urinary formula wet food that he'll actually eat, though! He'll eat it like it's the best thing ever day 1, and then day 2 he turns his nose up to it! :th We're trying Royal Canin's Urinary SO veterinary formula right now that he seems (knock on wood, fingers crossed, etc.) to have taken to. No further urinary issues since he switched to the urinary formula kibble, so the wet food is mostly to get his hydration higher and make sure that we keep those urinary troubles away. :fl

Luckily for him, he's very much worth all the trouble. :love

And while I'm here, here's this week in Casper pictures! 😁

He simply cannot resist a good box :love
