Been a busy week, so unfortunately I don't have many pictures to share this week. Apologies!
We did have a major scare with Casper this morning. I woke up like I usually do, not too long before my alarm (yep,
before
). As I do most mornings, I spent a bit of time just scrolling on my phone as I woke up for the day. At one point, I heard Casper off somewhere in the house, meowing with forlorn. He does this sometimes, almost like he's unaware that we're all still here. I called his name and he went quiet, just as he usually does when this happens.
Maybe 20 minutes later, my mom got up. She allllways gives Casper a little treat when she gets up, so he usually is right there to greet her. This morning, he was not. After checking around for a bit, she poked her head in my room and asked if he was in there with me. I told her no, but that I heard him meowing not that long ago, so I knew he was around somewhere.
She left and was gone for a few minutes, and next thing I know, I hear her yell up to me in my room, panicked. "The laundry room door is open! Casper's gone!!"
I was out of bed in record time. Left my glasses on my headboard, finished changing in a hurry as I'd already started to anyway, and ran down the stairs faster than you'd believe someone could. Casper reliably comes when he hears his treat jar rattle, so I grabbed it right away and started rattling and calling him out in the garage where the laundry room door leads. Nothing. Our garage door has been busted for a bit (waiting on summer break for more time to clean up the garage so we can have it replaced), so it's wide open to the front of the house. Fearing the worst, I took off through the house to the front and started calling and rattling there.
Nothing.
This whole event could not have taken up more than 10 or 15 minutes, but it was the longest 10 or 15 minutes of my life! Mom decided to check the laundry room door again on a whim, and there he stood, waiting patiently to be let back in from the garage.

Cue two grown women hysterically sobbing while Casper looked at us like we were crazy!
As for
why the laundry room door was left open, I'm not sure I want to go into that too deeply. Suffice it to say one particular member of the household has been growing increasingly careless and lazy over the past couple months, and this event was just about grounds for eviction after everything else we'd been putting up with from him. Had anything happened to Casper as a result, it probably would have been the last straw.

Hopefully this was a wake-up call for him to get his crap together.
Long story short, our boy is safe and sound, not a hair out of place, and went back to his usual routine of napping in various places like nothing had even happened once he returned.
Anyway, here are our pictures for the week. Snoozing on the couch with his paws in utter disarray! Usually he keeps them so neatly organized!
Kind of poor lighting here, but getting his stretches in
Perched in his box
And some chin scritches today after the big scare we had

I'm so, so glad he's safe.
