Thats why I cross out to the Dorking. They are a big meaty bird to begin with. Add in the cornish blood and they are small turkeys without the heart and skelatal problems. I gave up ordering meat birds a long time ago because of heavy losses that get worse as the altitude you live at increases.

Just wanted to add. If you can get ahold of good quality dorkings they are an excellent dual purpose bird. 11 lb roo and 8 lb hens. Next best is a very good orpington if you can find good stock. Hatcheries up here are a waste of time and money if you want real quality with the exception of genetic preservation in Quebec. He does have some breeds that are quite good.

Well, we must be on the right track with the minerals....We haven't had any new additions with leg problems....I've also only given them enough food to make it to the next morning....so, that appears to be slowing down other problems....although, we had one casualty this morning, but it looked like a squish thing......I've got 6 heat lamps going so when you look, it doesn't look like a dog pile....everyone seems to have lots of room to stretch out....and they all feel warm to the touch.....

Well, very happy to say, since I added the vitamins into the water, no more problems.....the birds also seem happier....I know, I am....
