Ive been killing my 6 week olds Help me save one! update, graphic pic

So strange, could be a vitamin deficiency caused by lack of eating? Look into Wry Neck. I would be giving all of them Poly-Vit-Sol (without iron!!) asap and if your little one is still around, I would give him several drops, plus a gel vitamin E capsule.

I'm so sorry!

i looked it up, and i wondered if that was it, i took a glance back atr the basket next to me and he is gone

and his neck is back to normal now that he is gone... how strange

I would still like to figure it out in case i find another little one out of sorts tonight or tomorrow.

Very weird, maybe we can get to the bottom of this! I sure hope so. So sorry he died.

How old are they and how many total?

What have you been feeding them?

What are the actual temps where you are, night and day?

ETA, the neck spasming thing is normal for death. Happens in a lot of animals just before death.

not counting him, i have

17 more polish and one guinea ( one flew the coop and probably got eaten)

when i found him quivering, there were two dead already. Everyone seems ok as of now.

I havent seen any bloody poops as of yet.

The one that just died passed no bloody poops.. just a little bit of white befor ei got back home. When i gave him a bath, he excreted normal looking stuff.

When i found him when i got home, his neck was set all the way back onto his back, and neck twisted almost underneath his wing. also, his one foot was closed up ( if that matters)

i got them july 22 on delivery so they probably hatched out the 21st. i guess they are actually 5 weeks.

I put them outside on grass with a little house( no light.. as they were weaned off that prior) this past week.

i dont know how to find out what the temp was last night?I am bad with that stuff...

Tonight is supposed to be mid 50s if that gives you an idea. its 66 right now. its also been wet lately.

if you can find the info, the zip is 13146

Edited to add the food they have been eating has been 19% broiler maker which my leghorns, wyandottes, cochins, etc have been on since forever, and they are 16 weeks old in a different pen.. and ALL are healthy.. have had no problems.

They are all eating from the same source, using same scoop and same bucket to pour into individual feeders. I would think if the feed was the source id be seeing a widespread thing throughout all the youngins..?

Hmm... any chance there's some moldy feed in cracks anywhere? The symptoms are very similar to Marek's, i.e. the leg paralysis.

Given the situation, I'd put the future layers on chick starter at 21%. And start Poly-Vi-Sol without Iron or Poultry Nutri-Drench asap. Meaties have different nutritional needs from layers.

Definately give them some added heat, they need about 70*F right now.

Good luck, it's hard losing them.

ETA: Dang, just looked up your zip code at www.weather.com I'd kill for those lovely temps right now! However, I don't want the 12 feet of snow ya'll get!

Yes, give them a little heat, not much. Also, set up a separate feeder, some may be lower in the pecking order and not getting enough to eat.

Thansk , will do..

no moldy feed TO eat. there is one dish and it gets emptied especially after it rains just in case.

I was afraid it was something like mareks ... im not sure of paralysis as i didnt have a lot of time with it, etc. but im afraid that is the case. Is ther eany hope for the other birds in that pen? I got them through a feed store but i bought them right out of the ideal box when they arrived. Wouldnt they have been vaccinated?

Can't say for sure, but very doubtful that it's anything like Marek's, unless you have been bringing in birds from other sources.

I asked about the moldy feed because the spillage can get into the coop/pen cracks and mold when it's damp out. I would definately set up another feeder and give them some extra TLC for now.

I havent mixed them with any other bitds except what i bought out of the same box....

thansk for all the info, I hope i wont have to post here again about another little bird!
