Hi, I am Rachel from Utah and we just got our first backyard chicks 3 weeks ago, after years of research. We currently have 5 chicks. Two Buff Orpingtons, two Barred Rocks, and one Easter Egger. As you can see, we chose them mostly by their temperaments and cold-hardiness. I joined here because it seemed like every time I Googled a question, this forum was one of the top hits.
I am also a photographer/software designer for photographers when I am not playing with my new sweeties. I have 7 kids ranging in age from 15 years old to 1 year old today. My oldest two have autism and the chickens are proving to be fun therapy for them too.
