I've Done Something Crazy

You card was successfully cancel, right? So no money in this.

Yes.

We never did expect anything like as nice as the coop advertised, but we initially expected to get something we could work on as a base structure.

After all, I have a coop built from the metal frame of a picnic pavilion -- creative renovation doesn't scare us. :D

This is one of the silliest gadgets in the history of near-useless kitchen gadgets. :lau

"Something" came in the mail today.

A ridiculous little gadget for scrambling eggs in the shell -- bragging that it's the solution for the "problem" of kids refusing to eat egg yolks.

Weirdest little white elephant gadget I've ever seen -- even less useful than the thing that purported to produce concentrated coffee extract to use to make "always fresh" coffee from about twice as much coffee as you'd normally use to make that many cups. 🤣
Trade ya’ 😃

It's not hard to fall victim to scams these days. I work in cybersecurity. I've been through a stupid amount of training to spot scams.... And yet I still fell victim to one earlier this year. I came across an advertisement for these metal garden fairies. I ordered several of them. They weren't cheap but still priced far less than I expected they could or should be. I looked up the company selling them and it was a legitimate retail business with a Houston, TX address. So I ordered....

I began to feel serious regret and trepidation when a tracking number showed the product was being shipped from China. It took the "product" forever to arrive and when it did I was livid. They had shipped me a crude, flat metal fairy cutout that probably cost $2 to make. Certainly not anything close to these pictures by any stretch of the imagination. I immediately asked for a refund and the company hemmed & hawed, trying to ask for stupid concessions like partial money back but I could keep the product. I simply said SCREW IT and contacted PayPal. I've asked PayPal for refunds several times. They've never once denied me and didn't this time either. I had my full refund by the end of the day. Chucked the "product" in the garbage where they probably dug it out to begin with.

BTW, here's the REAL site that sells those metal fairies....legitimately

I’ve seen those and thought they were cool 🧚

$50 for 2 finch waterers SMH

When the internet started becoming popular the word of advice was to look for a phone number & physical address to see if a company is real or not. Now I cross-check addresses on Google maps & look at the reviews. Watch out for PO boxes at USPS and UPS stores - red flags.
I had ordered two, so it was $50 a piece! What a bunch of chicken poo 💩

Yeah, I love them.... I have actually spoken with the man who created them (Robin Wight). He rarely sells the real ones, but when he does they are typically $15,000 - $40,000 Euros each. Unless you are buying them from his site, any place you see them listed is a scam. Thankfully I got my money back from Paypal when I got suckered in by that scam. I believed since it was coming from a business with a Houston, TX address (as opposed to a Chinese address) that it would be legit. That's why I got a bad feeling once I received a tracking number with the origination in China.

Well, they surely are stunning. It sucks that we have to be so cynical, but anymore it’s just reality. I love Etsy, but even there you have to really investigate. Live and learn 🧐
