Ive got another chick I'm unsure about

I want to get sebrights at some point...I'll just have to make sure that MyPetChicken's bantam sexing works out, because saddle feathers are my main way to sex birds!
Edit: NO! They don't have sebrights!!! Now I'm going to have to get a whole bunch of straight run chicks from another hatchery to hopefully get all the breeds that I'd like :(
Aw.

Sorry to interrupt the flow of the thread, but by 'hen feathered' you mean that you can't sex the chickens by looking at the feathers like with most? Is the only way to sex them the 'crows or lays' method?
Oh boy.. even crowing isn't telling depending on age! I had a two year old hen start crowing. My friends older hens have many rocking long spurs!

But yes that is basically what I mean.. They still show differences in their comb and wattle development all the same early on. So folks with some experience will likely still be able to identify them at a certain point. The following link shows that the hen feathering is a genetic thing and can be bred into any breed the same way you could breed in Silkie or Frizzle gene.. at least in my current understanding.. I mostly like the flowing saddle feathers on boys so wouldn't be my cup of tea.. but still fascinating to see ALL the differences in just birds alone! :pop

Silver is sex linked.. so you MIGHT be able to find someone working with them offering pullets.. or maybe make your own sex linked project! :wee

One fantastic thing about chickens is that despite doing this already for 10+ years I learn something new almost daily. It's a non stop learning adventure and just when I start to get bored something grabs my attention again! :yesss:
