I've got the itch...tattoo

Well, depending on who's doing the tattoo, some artists are a little bit rougher than others. It more stings than anything. I had my nose pierced and that hurt!! Depending on the size of the tattoo you want, it will sting more if it is bigger. When you get a tattoo, they put a gauze bandage on it which you remove the next day. Make sure you keep it moisturized as it will feel like it is starting to peel...DON"T pick it if it is getting scabby, you will pick the ink off. Use mild soap on it and don't go swimming in water with chlorine in it for awhile or it will fade the ink color. It should heal with in a week or less, depending on the size and how dark the color of ink was used.

Have fun!!

Oh ya, it all depends on the area you are getting the tattoo on as well, some areas are more sensitive than others. If you get one on your back near your spine it will tickle when they use the needle and may make you move so you have to stay still so they don't mess up!

Thanks mamaboyd. When I got my lip peirced, they said that I had really thick mouth skin, and that it was like trying to peirce through an inch of leather, it took them about twice as long as normal, it didnt really hurt at all, the tugging got annoying. I am thinking about it, but I dunno.
Southern28Chick, it seems like it would hurt getting a tattoo on your finger, but I have never had one done so I cant really offer advice. Your current tattoos look cool though.

I had a major panic attack the morning of my tattoo...I just had no idea what to expect and I was really freaking out....but once the guy started my biggest problem was trying to move when I laughed! LOL My hubby had to work that day so my sister and mom came along...and that fella had us all in tears laughing so hard. My mom really wasn't crazy about me getting a tattoo...even though I'm 33 lol.... but now she tells me all the time if I ever get another one she HAS to go with me...it was like having a front seat at a comedy act.
As for the pain...it's really not that bad...it's more like a cat scratching you over and over...mine took over 4 hrs and by the end I was starting to fall asleep

I dont have one on my fingers - but I have one in that space between your thumb and pointer finger - those hurt and they made my thumb numb !!

I say go for another one - I have 7 and I am going to get a rooster on my lower leg this summer

I have one on my back and a half sleeve done, they are addicting

I would like to have "I Walk The Line" tattooed around my ring finger on my left hand, but that is after I completely finish up my half sleeve and get my collar bones done

I love that you have REAL tribal tats and not something like this:

Underaged here, and haven't really ever considered a tattoo, but I can tell you one thing, I love looking at peoples body art and watching it be done.... good luck Southern!

nice ink . I got a bunch myself. it started with a butterfly, then scorpion, paradise bird, dolphin......drunken teddybear and my hubbys initials.... its a addiction. had all my stuff done across the pond though. i am gettin ready to get some new stuff, not sure what its going to be

I have a combo effort on my left ankle, butterfly first (when I was 18), added a band of flowers (at 19), then added a testicular cancer awareness ribbon last year while a dear friend was in surgery for...well, testicular cancer and I realized that almost everyone I love is male.

I also have my nose pierced (which I didn't even feel) and my nipples pierced (which I thought was going to kill me). I have a HIGH pain tolerance but the tattoos were the WORST. I think, more than anything, the time involved makes it just start to drive me insane. Short term pain is nothing, hours of grinding a needle into my ankle was too much. That said, I am about to get a Medussa on my left rib cage.

So, the way I see it, they hurt some, but if it is what you want, it is well worth it.

I've been kicking around the idea of a tattoo for awhile now. I would love to get a barred owl feather on my shoulder. I've wanted one of those for years! Nothing big, just something that I know is there. I was also thinking of a small horse shoe, but I think the feather suits me much better.

Now I just have to get the courage to go! I am going to try and have my dad help me pick out a good place to go because I have no knowledge of that stuff at all. He thinks it is neat that I want one and surprisingly my mom does as well. She was helping me pick out designs. I LOVE white tattoos as well. This is one that I was thinking of doing, but I'm not sure where I would want it. I absolutely LOVE this!

It's subtle, but still very pretty.

I love tatoo's..... they are very addicting ! I have 2 and have resisted the urge to get more for now . I hate the fact that people get them because they think they're "cool" or "pretty" . To me a tatoo symbolizes a chapter in your life that you want to remember forever . My first is of a brahma bull . I got it just before I graduated highschool . I broke my back , and wanted something to remember that time in my life . The second is bullrider riding a bull . Wish I had pics to show . I got that one after I broke my back again and my jaw in 3 places . As you can guess I used to ride bulls , so I memorialized it in my tats . They don't really hurt if you compare it to other injuries , just have to remember to keep your mind on something else !
