Deformities of her spine? I'm thinking she is deformed. We thought it might be niacin so we did supplemented it, and fed a food meant for ducklings. However we thought afterwards that it was probably unlikely because how can she have a deficiency as soon as she is born. And the older she got, the less the symptoms matched. Like she isnt bowlegged or anything, she has full mobility she wants to go, her brain just doesn't keep her upright, but she knows what is normal.
A friend of ours said something about her neck being broken/out of wack and that sort, but she can move everything fine, stretch it out, and doesn't seem to be in pain. I'm thinking about having her checked by this family chiropractor who's wife is very involved with animals. I know it probably sounds far fetched but I think it might actually work if there is something "wrong" or out of wack.Deformities of her spine? I'm thinking she is deformed.
Me too, but I don't have the money, even for them to just do an X-Ray or something. And there isn't really a good vet around my area that does ducks, or chickens. They do exotic birds sometimes, but still. I've called lots of veterinarians, even all the way out to Maryland and Missouri to ask questions about her, but obviously I can't go all the way out there since I'm in Ohio.Man I wish the vet was an option so you could know for sure.
What is the ground like in her pen?
It is a plastic-like dog house but without the top.
Something soft like pine shaving or thick layer of straw?
I use paper shavings, it seems to be gentler on her, and easier to "tuck" her legs in
Once you get something soft under her then treat her wounds with an antibiotic ointment like neosporin or even Veterycin spray for wounds and infection.
I put some Burt's Bees Hand Salve on it, it has essential oils in it and natural stuff.
Can she stand an walk at all?
If you help her. She can do it if you help keep her from falling over. She can run and stand and all but she flips over on her side. I've also been trying to get her feet in the right position, because she likes to overlap them and it's harder for her to balance and its not right.
