It is a water wiggler. You put the probe of the thermostat into it and it simulates the internal temp of the eggs. Air temp can vary widely with opening and such and this gives a more realistic picture of what is going on in the egg.
Count is up to five hatched, four alive. My water wiggler busted just now. Has that ever happened to anyone else? It looks like I have 3 samfavs so far and 1 samfav-blk. sexlink cross.
Gloria,
I am so happy for you. Your hatch is going so well!!
Justino, You don't have to use one of those...it just makes it easier knowing the temp in egg is right. You can also make your own water wiggler by putting water in a heavy duty quart size zip-lock bag (don't fill it completely full). Then fold it over in half and put a couple of rubber bands on it to hold it in the shape of a tube. You put your probe in between the folded over layers...or put it in before folding it over.
More pictures on the way! I had one black chick hatch last night. It was an egg that I had in the fridge for over a month. Even he has 5 toes! He must be from the Barred Rock Rooster that I had. I gave him away about a month ago. Lots of pips and zips!!!
