Ivermectin dose for ducks?

@shiningeyes , if your ducks have lice or mites, and what you described crawling on your arm sounds like a louse, the ivermectin with treat them. If they have a duck house that will need to be stripped of bedding and sprayed with permethrin spray.

If by chance what you saw was a flea you will need to treat the ducks and their house with permethrin spray because ivermectin does not treat fleas.

I use Ivermectin Pour On on my ducks for lice/mites/fleas and it is definitely effective... I do treat coops and bedding with permethrin spray as well... that combined is very, very effective in clearing out any external parasites...

Fyi, fleas DO live on their host... just ask a cat or a dog... ;)

Hmmm.....They jump on and off.. Suck the blood from a host and leave.

Thanks everyone. I'm still not sure what they might have. We seem to be overrun with springtails so that might have been what I saw on my arm. I keep trying to look at the ducks but they're feathers are so darn thick. My girls feathers are just super thin (the feathers themselves) on her wing tips and tail. My chickens seem to be having issues too so I think there is some sort of parasite issue going on. I'll treat the coop again this weekend with a spray and maybe put some dust in their bedding. Do I need to repeat the ivermectin in a week or so or is one dose usually sufficient?

One dose usually works for me.

Do you spray both the coop and bedding? Or do you use a dust? I use shavings so I don't think a spray would work so well but I've been a little hesitant in using the dust because I don't like the thought of any of us (myself or the birds) breathing it in. And I just spray everywhere I can get to in the coops correct? Thanks again for the help ladies.

Coop and bedding... or remove the bedding, spray coop and put in fresh, clean bedding... both ways have worked... the worse the infestation the more it needs a deeper clean out...
