Ivermectin for rabbits?

get an insulin syringe and insulin needle size 16 i think,,, sorry cant remember size numbers... an insulin syringe comes in a 1 ml size with units which are the .001 markings u need so u would need 9 units of ivomec. the syrniges are small and thin and actually we used to use one syrine and needle for several animals (about three ) since they live with eachother anyway...

also, we used a brenner (flame thower type thing) to clean all the rocky walls... we gave them ivervec every two weeks or so for most of the heat season (our winter is very short) and then about two months of winter w/o /

Now I know this week is another 2 weeks old too, but I'm having a mite issue. I have walking dandruff presented in one of my rabbits. I did about 5 small drops, in total, on the infected area and behind the ears, he's a large Mini Lop. I have a litter of rabbits that is supposed to go to their new homes this coming weekend. My question, what can I do to treat them, in case they have it? Also, is there a test I can do at home to make sure they don't have it? They aren't balding, no dandruff, no scabs, ect., but couldn't they have a couple mites and present no symptoms? I want to make sure they are clear before they leave my care.

I read someplace that 1/2 a cc of ivomec 1% injectable per 5# of body weight in a 32oz water bottle is a suitable amount. I just added to waters and now I am confused because it doesn't seem to add up to the things I am reading now. Am I about to make a huge mistake in my Rabbitry?

1/2 a cc is too much for a 5lb rabbit. It should be 1/8 a cc but it's not going to hurt them so don't sweat it. If you suspect furmites treat everyone again in 1 week intervals for a month. Don't mix it with the water next time, it doesn't truly mix well and you don't want to not give it. If one of your rabbit gets furmites treat everyone!!!! It may not show up right away. I dose everyone orally (squirt it in their mouth).

Thanks so much for the advice. I'm sorry I haven't thanked you sooner. I have a smart phone and got your message while working the farm and my memory sucks so I forgot. But thank you just the same. Got one other q for you. Can I breed 1/2 siblings? Is that too close? Same dad unrelated moms same mom unrelated father? Just curious. Haven't but if I can then it will make my breeding program a bit easier to plan out. :) thanks

You can but the recessive genes they may carry will be more likely to show up. These genes can be good or bad depending on what they are for.
