ivermectin pour on

Where is the best place (and price) to get generic ivermectin pour on I need to treat for lice.

I got the generic from Tractor Supply. I think it was $14.99 a bottle for 250ml.

TSC is usually the best place to find it price and location wise. But I would recommend also spraying your birds with Adam's flea and tick spray. I used Ivermectin pour on and it did not get rid of all the mites on my birds but the flea and tick spray knocked them down.

You have it backwards. Ivermectin IS a wormer. Anything else is secondary. Unfortunately everyone seems to use it primarily to treat lice/mites when other notable and more effective treatments are available. This is why ivermectin is showing signs of ineffectiveness against large roundworms in chickens because of them building resistance to over- usage of ivermectin products. They are the primary worm that chickens get and will eventually kill a chicken. Consider using sevin dust, adams products, poultry dust, permethrin products, orange guard. You need to use one of those products to treat your coops anyway. Even use household bleach to spray the inside of your coops, it'll kill lice or mites, dont use it on your chickens though. Hope this helps.

Yes, ivermectin is a wormer, but that does not mean it is not also an excellent treatment for lice, mites and other external parasites. For both internal and external parasites, alternating between various products is wise.

Thanks for all the info.
I do alternate between treatments and only treat if necessary.
I noticed today that the chickens have lice crawling and have eggs on the base of the feathers
around their vent. I am having my NPIP inspection done next week. I wanted something that
will knock them down fast. I hate to have the critters crawling on me while we are doing the testing.

More important, I do not want the chickens to have to deal with them either .

Instead of redusting them on the 10th day, dose them with ivermectin (inspect them closely too.) But you'll still need to redust the coop, nests, roosts.
