Ivomec for rabbit performance?

hello! I was just at a neighboring county’s county fair and was watching the rabbit show. During the rabbit show the judge told this one young lady and the crowd to use Ivomec 3 weeks before their next fair to “enhance rabbit/ fur quality.” Now I have heard if giving small dosages of Ivomec to rabbits in cases of mites but I just wanted to ask if it was really safe to give your rabbit Ivomec when they don’t have mites, and if it really enhances and speeds up the shedding process like the judge had said, before I use it on my own rabbits.

It may help but beware of off-label use of any drugs, even supposedly safe ivermectin.
I may be naïve but I feel it is unethical to do so. Over use of any product can cause resistance in some parasites.

I read the article and I’ll look more into it, but I agree to an extent what you are saying but unfortunately our fair is Labor Day week and the rabbits always blow their coats starting right beforehand, and seeing how the medicine could help speed that process up I was wondering, again, thank you!
