Hey y’all.

So I’ve got a hen that has scaly leg mites and they’re hurting her pretty bad. She refuses to walk on her left leg because of one of her toes. I’m only home to put Vaseline on her two days out of the week (I’m at college the other 5). Today we soaked her legs in warm water with some dish soap and powdered sulfur to try and help some. I’ve been reading up on cures but I can’t find anything that is fast that I can do in one weekend. I was wondering, can you put ivomec pour-on on her legs to help with them? I don’t want to do anything that is going to make her hurt more. If the ivomec is not an option, is there another way I can help her get better fast?

Thanks,
Levi

Do you have photos?

Ivermectin can treat/kill the SLM, but it will take time to for the legs to heal, so you would still need to tend to the legs with Vaseline or NuStock at least once a week.

Ivermectin Pour On dose is 0.09ml per pound of weight applied to the base of the neck along the spine making contact with the skin. Repeat application in 10-14days.

She doesn’t willingly put weight on that one foot. The only time the moves is to get away from one of our easter egger roosters.

She will eat and drink but I had to take her over to the water so she would get something. She seemed very thirsty (bc she won’t walk)

We let her be in warm water yesterday and it seemed to soothe her.

Is there anything we can do for her to give immediate relief?
