Here's what you get for hard work, good vet care and love when dealing with a sick goat.
Two weeks ago, this 5 month old doeling out of my doe, Sarah and owned by a dear friend of mine suddenly fell ill. In a matter of hours, she was catatonic. She had encephalitic listeriosis, and was declining fast. Ivy spent the night in ICU at a local vet clinic, returning home with a very poor prognosis. With the help of the vet and several other producers, we developed a treatment plan and never gave up.
Apart from some likely permanent vision loss from the brain swelling, today Ivy is back to being a normal, healthy goat. She is boarding here while her owner is out of town and is being weaned off her meds.
This is really a miracle goat! Her owner deserves a standing ovation for not quitting!
