I'm more concerned with the over flow of additional birds your responsible for. But you know better than I do.

Not every bird is staying. I've never kept every bird that has hatched, that is not changing now. I simply am permanently keeping males that I otherwise would be holding for months or longer to find good homes for.

You have a gorgeous group of birds! I really like the little bits of red in Coffee's feathers. I think that has to be one of my favorite chicken colors.

He's quite the looker. It's most likely rhe Asian Black in him. His uncle and cousin have the same look with varying amounts of those red shoulders.

Very curious to see how your bachelor pad works! Years down the road, if we move to the farm, I would like to keep more than a couple of roos, too!

I've kept smaller bachelor pads before for short terms (longest was 3 or 4 months) with cull males. But they also were raised together.

Main difficulty now is that Foghorn doesn't exactly like most males (especially poor Coffee, he hated him for some reason before I moved them all and it still took a few days before he seemed to accept that Coffee was there to stay).

I think the main reason he doesn't target now is that I have 8 cochin clones and 4 araucana clones also in the pen for processing later, so most birds look pretty much the same.

If he continues, I may have to make a choice on if I keep him or process him, but for now I'm going to just hope that the lack of girls is helping
