Jacin's Poultry 2022

Friend is also taking 6 eggs to test out her new incubator. They'll likely be mixes since I only have the mosaic males in the 21 pen currently. But she can help me test the sexlinking with those too
I love mixes! Hopefully, she can spare us some pictures. Is she another BYCer, by chance???

I keep telling her to join. I think she's one of the lurkers that keep increasing 😅

And she will be sharing pictures, because she knows that I will go to her house and take them myself if she doesn't

I think 3 or 4 of the eggs are Isabelle leghorn eggs, but the baby daddy could still be almost anyone. Likely a silkie or mosaic though that should be sexlinked. Other 3 eggs are tan and cream, so who knows.

She also took 2 mixed color silkie eggs and a WFB Spanish egg (to test if my male is still throwing fertile stuff or not cause of his age).

I also got to see Maggie and the others again at their new home. A small recap: Maggie, an orpington and a Naked Neck hen went to the home of a friend's mother to help her rooster stop breeding so harshly on the bantam ladies. The same bantams I gave her last spring as live culls (runty sebright, single combed Cornish and cross beaked bantam NN)

All 5 are doing okay this morning.

1 is definitely smaller than the other 4, but now that he's had a chance to rest and eat and not get trambled during chick round up, he's doing much better. While it's likely FtT and I'm trying not to get attached, I'm hoping he's just a tiny, true bantam silkie.

The other 4 are big chunks. Only one has a foot that may end up with a wonky extra toe. Way better than my silkies last year did where only two over all didn't have a wonky extra toe.

The hatchery they came from sells their silkies as mixed color silkies, as well as a mix of bearded and unbearded. Funny enough, I ended up with 2 colors I think and one color is definitely bearded and I think the other color isn't

Silkies are supposed to have 5 toes on each foot.
Are you saying you had some with 6?
Or some where the 5th toe was wonky instead of the normal style of 5th toe?

Most had combined toenails on the 5th toe, including my male I ended up keeping (it's mixed colors in his pen, so they're pet quality anyhow), but one actually had a 3rd toenail coming out the side of its extra toe, not at the normal spot. Unfortunately that is what the misfit this year is looking to have.

3 lightest are Whites and the 2 darker ones are either Buff or Red I'm thinking. Whites look most likely beardless, the reds definitely have beards
