Storyline!

So I had my phone on silent because I can't figure out how to turn off certain app notifications and my tracker said my next order had been accepted to the Texas state distribution center.

Lounge around in bed til quarter to 9, finally get up to go check on everyone and see... oh no.... 😶

Missed call:
Post Office

Um... hold up.

It's one of the guys who knows me as "That chick hoarder".

I have another box of chicks in the office ready to pick up whenever I can, but they're loud so at least some are alive (I think he was there when the silent box last year arrived).

My tracker didn't update. There's a giant gap between the Texas update and then the next one is that the package was picked up by an individual (me).

So now my chicks from yesterday (5 standards, the 6th didn't make it, more on that later) are surrounded by a box ton of screaming bantams while I set up the box I was supposed to have today to do.

Ended up with just one doa out of like 40 chicks and it looked like it happened pretty early on in shipping. Everyone else looks good, don't think I got any substitutes, but they're also all bantams which means my sexing thread will be updates a lot today and tomorrow

Okay. So about the 6 yesterday.

Please don't get mad at me, Kiki and Colt, I truely did think long and hard about what you told me.

I had an order from Feather Lover Farms for 4 chicks some time in April. They arrived yesterday, with 2 extras (boys, not sure what one is though). So 6 total.

Based on all the things I had read, I expected to open the box to lethargic if not dead babies and be full of pretty well earned disappointment.

Instead I opened it to 5 super big, perfect looking chicks and one weaker (from what I actually ordered, of course) chick with a bad foot (could be genetic or incubator related, it was similar to Rachet's foot as a chick last year).

1 of the 4 I ordered looks different, hoping that it's still the right breed and just different chick colors cause I can't find him on any of the breed picks either.

The curled toe one didn't end up making it over night. He was just small and runty and weak, so I'm not too surprised. The other 5 are still doing great though.

No, I am not saying I think everyone else was wrong in their experiences. I think I was just very lucky and am so thankful for the people that did warn me and want to help me with my pursuit of obtaining this breed.

I will not order from them again unless I see far more good experiences and fewer bad ones as the seasons go on and will continue keeping an eye on these 5 closely until I feel they're old enough to relax a bit or they all don't make it.
