One of the Onyxes (which may come home next Sunday (not the one in 4 days) has something odd going on. As in, it's almost completely bald. No picking or burns, it just didn't seem to grow in its feathers right compared to her siblings

Any chance it just has the slow-feathering gene? Some of those can look pretty bald at some stages.

(It sounds like you're describing something different, but I wasn't quite sure.)

Candled the eggs in the bator. 22 set, 1 clear and 2 early fails. Everyone else looks great.

One of the early fails isn't surprising (Estrella's egg) simce ive never had luck with her eggs. The other might have just had a glitch.

Replacing them tomorrow with 2 polish and a green egg (more on that tomorrow).

But 19/22 so far isnt too bad if i say so myself

My cornish bamtams had ugly stages too, but nothing quite like this. But the chick is acting just fine and dandy like her siblings. Just way uglier.
