Jan. 2022 Hatch-a-long

I don't give up on an egg even if it got kicked out of a nest for a bit. 12 hrs is how long they can go.
I brought them in and candled them and there was no movement. :/
Aw man, I’m so sorry about that.
Our runner ducks have hatched 14 ducklings at the most, and they are usually successful with their big broods. But then again, those female ducks are rather finicky. They won’t sit on their eggs until they’ve got an army of them.
It looks like she started with 13 or 14 eggs. Ten she pushed out, and today we pulled two out of her nest today (one was grey, one is in the incubator) because they weren't warm, and one or two that my daughter couldn't reach. I think it's possible that just too cold outside for her to keep them warm in her spot under the stairs. But it's promising for Spring! My kids are prepared for the very real possibility that we might not get any more ducklings until Spring. We'll have to get her a proper nesting box, too.

Aw man, poor mama. I hope spring goes more according to plan. :fl

Pulled two definite clears from my Bielefelder eggs this morning. I have a couple more than look questionable; I’ll give them several more days, though.

Meanwhile, my adult flock is dealing with almost 8” of snow that fell yesterday:
