Jan. 2022 Hatch-a-long

Pics
I brought them in and candled them and there was no movement. :/

It looks like she started with 13 or 14 eggs. Ten she pushed out, and today we pulled two out of her nest today (one was grey, one is in the incubator) because they weren't warm, and one or two that my daughter couldn't reach. I think it's possible that just too cold outside for her to keep them warm in her spot under the stairs. But it's promising for Spring! My kids are prepared for the very real possibility that we might not get any more ducklings until Spring. We'll have to get her a proper nesting box, too.
Oh no I’m so sorry. We had a similar thing happen with our bantam back in October. She was only 6 months old but she went broody, we let her keep 1 egg. She sat on it the whole time but I guess it got too cold during hatch 🤷‍♀️ it pipped & started to unzip but didn’t make it very far.

I will be setting my first batch of eggs in the incubator Sunday if all goes to plan. I hadn’t planned on hatching eggs but we just lost 8 of our 11 chickens including our rooster earlier this week so I want to have some of their offspring. If y’all don’t mind I’d love to participate as well 💕

Can I jump in?
Congrats to everyone on their babies so far!😍
Set 19 Silkie eggs on the 5th and just candled, all but one seem to be developing. Hatch date around the 26th. Father of all of them is my paint cockerel. Moms are various colors. I used to be able to tell the eggs apart, but have pretty much given up, as they all look more or less the same. Expect the chicks to hatch out black or paint, as the cockerels coloring is very dominant. Small chance of blues or maybe blue paint. Using my trusty NR360.😊

A cute little single-combed black and white, feather footed little angel!
(I think that egg was from one of our Marans.)View attachment 2953389
We have some dominate copper marans, and they have mild feathered feet. So I can only assume that one of the fathers could be either Bootsie (Bantam Cochin x Buff Brahma) or our Red Bantam Cochin rooster.
