ok so im kinda confuzed on somthing?!?!?! ok so lock down starts on the 18th day right????
and it means you cant open the bator at all? right?


i think i go into "lock down" tomorrow?

yes.. On day 18, go ahead and candle if you are going to do that and once you are done, up the humidity, close the bator and sit on your hands until they hatch!!! Chicks can survive around 72 hours without food/water after they hatch so there is no reason to get them out right away!!

Thought this might take your mind off of the bators for a few minutes... Before we moved to the place we live in now, i lived right down the road from where she is... I told my husband that I have chicken feed in the back of the van, a cat carrier and the need to go there in the next few days to a week anyway to take my son to his dr.. I may just come home with her! LOL... ENJOY!

Just had our first peeping! Not sure which egg it was coming from, but it sounded like a nice healthy peeper.

Going to set our system to record over night, just incase the little fuzzy butt hatches while I sleep!!

Still no pipping but the peeping is more frequent.

Question: About how long, from when they start peeping, does/should it take for them to pip & start zipping? I am such a nervous new incubator mommy... I just want to make sure that as many of them survive/thrive as possible. If it goes ______ amount of time with still no pipping, should I start the process of helping to hatch? (I have done a fair amount of research on how to do it, just incase it becomes necessary)

And we have our first pipping EVER!!! Egg # 1 of Group 2 has officially pipped on it's 22nd day of incubation and is peeping
