Congrats. The chicken math is worrying me. Lol. I am down in making my 4th coop. Two of the coops I can separate 3 breeds. Huuuu chicken math. One incubator on the way. Eggs in another and collecting more. HELP!!!

I don't have as many coops as you but I am currently working on my 2nd on that's 6x4 with 6 nesting boxes
I have another 8x3 that's a 2 story... I added to the bottom in the summer because I wasn't expecting 18/20 to hatch lol
Now I'm thinking about collecting MORE eggs in a couple weeks, to hatch in my incubator lol

I think wherever I move I'll just get a huge barn with stalls for separate pens so I won't have to keep building coops... but a coop neighborhood would look kinda cool lol

Nice :)

That is a cute one, it will sure have an interesting pattern

Looks like 2 are not going to hatch. I'm not sure if I killed them by moving them, or they just didn't have a chance. Looks like I have 5 chicks, one overgrown looks like it's hunched over :-/

I have rabbits too but am new on it. I don't know if my female is pregnant. She has grown in the last few weeks. I separated her from the male 3 weeks ago. Put a nest in and waiting. The thing is I don't know how long I wait.

31 days is their gestation, so if no babies by 33 she's not bred. Be careful with fat does...it's very hard to get weight off of them. and they will have trouble breeding and kindling. Feed just enough to where they have good flesh but you can still feel definition of bones. Usually, getting larger is not a great indicator of pregnancy, unless the litter is very big! Don't want to hijack the thread, so pm me if I can help in any way! good luck!

I'm pretty sure I have a chick with wry neck. Should I separate it, will it be ok by itself? & if so, once fixed, will mama accept it?

I had some chicks hatch with wry neck, and all of mine looked normal either on their own or after they had some good chick starter food and water with vitamins. I read that it's caused by a deficiency of vitamin B in the parents' diet.

HI,
If it is wry neck.it is usually a pretty easy fix.................
I would not separate it.....the hen will not take it back.
My chick with wry neck recovered . I just had to make sure it was eating.
You may want to use search for treatment information............
I used baby vitamins.(without iron).can't remember the name.
Good Luck

Well I might as well jump in somewhere! Currently doing my first hatch. After a coyote got all but one of my laying hens a few weeks ago,I decided to try hatching some eggs from my remaining barred rock rooster and buff orpington hen. I put 14 in on 1/15. They were laid over 16 days (14 eggs in 16 days in the dead of winter...not too shabby!) So I counted on a few being too old. We are at 7 days now and 10 candle great! 4 are clear. The good ones are flopping around like little fish in there. It's so cool! I also have a bunch of Wheaton marans in that I'm hatching for the friend who is letting me borrow an incubator. Can't see a thing in there!

I also have rabbits due on February 3. Not a newbie there, but I just got into them again after taking a break for college, so I'm excited about these litters! I have three does due through February. It's baby season!

Welcome and Good Luck..............
Really sorry for your loss to the coyotes.
