Quote: if you've run the humidity too high during incubation that's a problem....the real trouble is the guidelines are just that...what is best in your region is different for mine
I've found that running the humidity between about 25% and 35% during incubation is great...if it runs higher in the begining thats okay as the eggs dry out the humidity goes down...I raise the humidity to at least 45% for hatching....it's very dry here right now I have trouble maintaining 25% I go check and it's 10% almost daily...guess what??? they hatch, no drying out....as long as they have plenty of humidity to keep their little membrane moist once they pip the inner membrane until they hatch...that last few days I keep wet sponges or damp paper towels in the hatcher (extra incubator used for hatching) mind you I said at least 45% ideally higher but I don't really have trouble unless they dry out after pipping...if they open that pip hole bigger and bigger in one spot over a few hours that's a pretty good indication they may be a little stuck...help as little as possible...hope this helps
HUH?? what did I miss?chicks are not even near lamp, basket is hanging aboveSHE WAS FALLING DOWN NOT UP>![]()
Quote: oh I see! I would be so afraid of that set up too...I hang mine with zip ties to make sure it can't fall but after a week I rely on a heating pad
