welcome!!Can I join? I set my eggs in the incubator Jan. 22nd so they are due to hatch Feb. 12th or so. I have a few Silkie eggs in and about a dozen and a half Barnevelder eggs in the incubator...all from my own chickens! I candled them all a couple of days ago and they all look good. One is a maybe but I'm sure the rest are looking fertile so I'm really happy with that! I am using an older LG with an auto turner. I wrap my incubator in a small blanket all around the edges to keep the temps more steady and I don't add water after the humidity gets up to around 50% initially. Because it started raining I doubt I'll have to add any water as the ambient humidity is pretty high. Anyway, I'm so excited to see what I get in two more weeks!

It says its been 31-34% and that is with no water at all..your not going to drown them at this point...what have you been running you humidity at?
I will wait until they internally pip like Farmer Viola is saying.. what do you keep your humidity at? next time I will not be adding water! my shipped eggs seem to need a higher humidity though.. does anyone else have this problem? this is the second time and I swapped incubators..i would wait until 19 at the earliest-
I live in eastern wa- desert here too wood stove going-
Okay, that sounds like a good plan! They are white and tan, but I can see in the tan ones pretty easily as well.I would candle them on day 18, 19, 20, etc - look for an internal pip, and when you see an internal pip, then increase the humidity and begin lockdown (do not open the incubator, it will cause a sudden loss of humidity). "Normally" internal pips should happen on day 19.... this is when you hear cheeping but see nothing on the outside.
here is an internal pip on a white egg:
