I know I held only a few will not touch again. Also our other silkie is brooding.

That's awesome. I have never had a broody, unbeatable since I have my chickens for 3 years

No they should be fine. Just let mama keep sitting and every once in a while listen for peeping. Try to control the urge to peek under her. If you hear peeping then all is good and if they hatch you will start to see them poke out from under her shortly after.

no, you are completely fine to candle right up until they pip externally, that wouldn't kill them.

I learned a lot from the last hatch a long, one lady named Anira candled them daily and could even tell us when they internally pipped each one.

once they externally pip they are open to the air, and that is when they need high humidity and keeping it cut off from outside air becomes very important.

Alright no matter how tempting to look under her (very) I won't, I started peeping to her and she was looking at her eggs.

I completely understand your feeling, it's so freaking exciting!!!

when that happens to me, I try to distract myself... I clean things.. like DEEP clean every crack and crevice so I get really into it, and the time goes by quick!
or doing work outside... things that make me focus

You are fine. My silkie hatched out 3 NYD, but we had that cold front come in so we had to complete move her, the babies and the remaining eggs form the hen house to a brooder box in the barn. She hatched out two more after that. I just wouldn't handle them anymore, wait for the surprise little peeps.

Just don't reach under her or try to sneak a peak-a-loo, your broody needs to build up humidity for the chicks to hatch successfully.
