Jan./Feb. 2014 hatch a long

Oh man.  I was sent 15 BO eggs.  15 are going into lock down tomorrow!   And, 12 Rhodebar eggs were sent to me.  10 are going into lock down.   Here's hoping my bator does as well during lock down.

Have to share something, that us older folks can appreciate.  Thinking I may be the only oldie.. in here, but anyway, was at the store struggling to get the money out of my inside pocket of my purse.  Took a while.  I don't know why?  I just find that some things take longer.   The person behind me was smiling, and being so patient.   I remembered then.  Something I read about 10 years ago.
A lady that was behind an older woman.  She was struggling with her purse, she could see that the woman was feeling embarrassed about taking so long.  Then the woman that was standing behind the older woman had a thought.  I hope when I reach that age, that people will be patient while I am the one taking a while in line.   Boy, did that come to mind. My time had come.  In fact, it came to mind just a couple of weeks ago too.    :D

Lol

I just got back inside from putting it back with the others. It was closing one eye... had a bad feeling if I didn't put it back it might die overnight. It was moving around pretty good, but it had a little diarrhea, hope it will be ok. I think I'm going to check early this morning to see how it's doing. When I was putting it under mama she kept shifting around like she didn't want it under her.. I might check again soon just to be sure she didn't reject it
thanks for sharing

YAY.. Received the replacement power cords to my second bator today. Now I don't have to do a combined lockdown that will be 2 days apart.

Right now the first batch is on Day 13 and out of 16 egg, I've got 10. They were shipped eggs during the last polar vortex many of us had. The second batch, from my flock, is on day 10. Out of 4 dozen, I'm only down 6 eggs. I'm pretty happy.

Almost time to start getting the brooder ready. That's when the hubby starts looking at me some kind of way. Never hatched eggs this early in the year before, he hasn't thought of how long they will be inside this time. SSSHHHHH Don't tell. HAHAHAHA

Day 19.

It is frustrating that two days before hatch day the eggs look exactly like they did on day one. I know they are about to hatch - but they don't seem to know.

I so hear ya! Mine are two days out, as well. C'mon chickies!

Lol I have mine in the living room. In a cocktail cage. He just looks at me but don't say anything. He has no idea that I have another Bach hatching in a couple of weeks. And that in already collecting eggs to incubate right away.

Good morning everyone....................

Winds here are terrible. Had 115 gusts tues and 87 today...............
chickens are grounded to their coop and not happy at all.................
I have discovered about my way off readings on my hygrometers that
it depends where they are located in the incubator..........
I have still air................Yesterday had one read 15 and another 40.................

so I swithched places with them and checked 30 minute later.
Sure enough......they changed degrees based on their location.
I move my eggs about once a week because of possible cold spots in the inc...........
Had never thought of a difference on the humidity............
Have not figured out a solution yet....hate to buy a fan.I am saving for a new incubator..
But maybe will have to............
What about a computer fan? I just googled "computer fan" and saw them as cheap as about $2.50. I am borrowing an incubator right now but working on plans for my own, and I am planning on using 1-2 of them in my design.
