We had to perform a delicate stuckeggshell craniotomy on this one.

That is so cute. I have had to do that myself. I had a chick wearing a hat for about a month before it finally came off. It's like super glue.

I am OLD.................and hopefully wiser............
I am here to tell you that you are GOOD ENOUGH.............If you just think about what kind of personality it takes to do
what we do...Then maybe you can see your good points.............. I do not know you, but I know chickens people.
Generally we are soft, caring, loving, caretakers, and commit ourselves to the end.
Your baby is sooooooo lucky to have a future Mom like you........

Does anyone have frizzle pullets, chicks or eggs for sale?
I've been looking everywhere for fizzles. Any breed/color except the Polish & Serama ones (they aren't cold hardy).
Would prefer a started pullet (to be aquired now) but will take chicks or even fertile eggs (to be aquired in April/may).
Im in NJ & can pickup locally or I will pay for shipping.
Please pm me with what you have available & price.
All the hatcheries I have looked at are sold out for 2014 already or don't have any avail till August.

Deanna...unreal. They could be siblings..your Sara and my Sparkle. Is yours laying yet? What color? Mine is just now coming up on 6 months..I think. She has started squatting, so I am hoping. Those EE's can take a while.

She was the first one to lay. She started looking around the yard. Each day she walked faster and faster from each spot. Finally she was running, looking in every corner, under everything. My dog let her in the laundry room and she laid her bag in a half bag of pine shavings. Her egg is mint green. It's slightly uneven on one side. SHe was 10 days short of 6 months. Nobody else started laying for 2 1/2 more weeks. She taught them all to lay in the laundry room. She laid 6-7 in a row, one day off. When it started freezing out, she slowed but she is the only one of that whole group that is still laying. About 5 a week even thou it's so cold. She is my head hen. This is her when she was little. She fell in the water dish and got wet, then the others wouldn't let her under the heat lamp. She was almost dead when I found her. I nursed her back and took her with me everywhere for a few days until she was strong. Then she become head lady. She snuck in the house a few weeks ago about 6am. I was asleep. I heard breathing above me. I thought it was Max. I kept my eyes closed and she waited. Finally she cooed. I opend my eyes and she dove in the covers for a snuggle. She is so sweet.

Right after I got to the airport, to head home, hubby texted me a pic....we have a pip! At the second airport now, and two more have pipped, and others are rocking around. So excited I get to be home for it.

Ok now what??? what do I do now? they are in the incubator, they are out of the eggs but still wet. We have drained the water out the best we can and put papertowels down where they were not. So how long in the box and then provide water and chick starter? I know to make sure to dip beaks but when and how soon to move them over? EeeeK so excited. First hatch!

Well I'm no expert (this was my first hatch too) but I put out chick starter immediately and dipped beaks once when they were fluffed out and then again 24 hrs later to be sure. It seemed to work. They are all eating and drinking just fine now.

Oh my goodness, Sparkle started out with that yellow face..we called her owl face. Then it went away. Cute little chicks aren't they? You saved her!
