Jan./Feb. 2014 hatch a long

By water logged do you mean clear fluid at the pointy end of the egg??

If so I am having the same issue, today will mark day 20 and I have been advised to not going into lockdown until I have an external pip... One poster here told me that she had chicks hatch 6 days late so I have hope that they will fill out and absorb (or expel) the excess fluid
Water logged as in my air cell's aren't as big as they should be.. they look more like a day 12-14 day air cell size rather than a day 18 air cell size...

Do you do anything different for eggs that are water logged? like not up the humidity as much during lock down? or..? I have some Bresse eggs that are going into lockdown today that are a little water logged. I had water in my Brinsea 20 up until day 7 when I noticed they looked like they weren't losing enough water so I took all the water out and have had nothing in it and they still didn't get where they need to be. I can see them all moving in there.. This is my third hatch... ahhh I am excited and nervous! if there is anything I could do that will give them more of a chance will someone let me know? This is my first post here.. I hope it is okay if I join in? I know I am a little late since I am already at lock down.. I have another incubator with shipped Marans eggs that are on day 14 as well!

I am new to this and certainly in no position to give advice, I can however tell you my experience on my first hatch that I just did. I live in Florida where humidity is always pretty high. However I see the incubator creates it's own atmosphere. My incubator has two channels in the bottom for water and has a digital meter, I started with water in those two channels. I suspect the meter is not correct and reads too low. On day 18 I added water to the entire bottom of the 48 egg incubator, it is designed that way its basically a plastic box. I followed the directions and did not open that box till all 3 had hatched. The humidity was so high in there the last 3 days that there was water droplets in several areas on the lid.. My birds hatched beautifully. I didn't weigh the eggs during the 18 days although they felt heavier. I sometimes would see movement and sometimes I didn't. AND Yes you came to the right place the folks on these boards are terrific and have helped me through quite a few anxious moments. It is great that we have such a great support staff at our finger tips all hours of the day. Good luck with your babies.... I know it is crazy exciting. I had a dinner party going the night mine hatched, so my company got dinner and a show!

be sure to candle the pointy end look for clear end- if so too much water don't lock down yet- I lock down at outer pi- then I know they didn't drown.

I have 2 out of my 20 in the bator pipping and cheeping. Tomorrow is day 21. I saw movement in 19 of them at lock down. I'm not getting a thing done today! This is always so eggciting!

Yeah, you would think in Arizona I would have the opposite problem than what I am having.. so weird.. Maybe I have a humid house.. lol That is a great idea having people over to enjoy the show! I might have to do something similar!
