Okay, need some suggestions, advice, recommendations...

Silkie/silkie crosses. Shipped eggs. Had detached air sacs. 7 wiggly eggs put into lockdown today.

Two of the eggs have saddle air sacs and 1 has a very nasty saddle. So three totally. All have shown movement prior to lockdown.

My questions...

Will they have special issues with hatching?
Is there anything that I need to watch out for?
Any extra measures I need to make?
If they are haven't pipped with the others, would you intervene?

The special measures I would take is to leave them upright for hatch, most importantly of all.

I had a batch of detached air cells, and for the first (only) time ever, I laid them on their side for hatch. All of my chicks died the day I put them into lockdown, and I swear it was because I laid them on their side. One of my chicks' pipped the membrane d19 and died; I could see that the membrane inside that particular egg had actually separated from the shell, and there was blood loss/veins around the membrane "rip" location where it became deatched from the egg and punctured by the beak. I believe that the membrane "fell down" on the chick and it's beak just pipped by accident. ESPECIALLY because it was saddle shaped. The saddle shaped air sacks to me seem to be still detached in that dip/saddle area, or failed to completely heal or something..

I have the controversial opinion that I will assist any chick that isn't hatching on time, including pipping for the chick. I have lost chicks I could have helped in the past (detached) and I think that the detached, damaged eggs truly are a special case that may require special intervention on my part.... I treat them much differently than I would eggs laid from my own flock, for example.

A guy I have gotten chicks from before, wanted to get into jubilee and chocolate orpingtons. The eggs he bought only hatched1 rooster each of the right coloring. He is selling me them to me since he didn't end up with any pairs. I have never bought a chicken of 4 months. I always buy day old or hatch myself. I hope it's not a mistake. I am hoping to pick them up tomorrow. I have a lavender and a buff pullet already. So I will end up with a lavender, buff, red and black pullets and a jubilee and chocolate roosters. That wil make some crazy babies. 2 more months for eggs, and one more after that to see my rainbow babies.

Me too. I always tell everyone about hatching weak chicks blah blah blah right before admitting to helping. I try not to but I can't not help.

What is the longest delay you have heard of??

I've hatched chicks up to 6 days late, ducks 7 days late & muscovies 8 days late. I've had temperature issues the past 2 winters dur to moving & power outages. Hatch rates drop, but some always still hatch.

I'm trying so hard to have faith, but I just want to see just one wiggle, just one!!  My last hatch went so well I became over confident and didn't worry when the temp dropped and stayed there for several days, I figured it would be fine.. Shame on me!!  I so don't want to lose these birds, I wanted to start some heritage breeds and was so exited when a member here contacted me and we met, she was so kind and gracious, giving me more that we originally agreed on and I had paid for.  

I keep telling myself they are just a week behind and it will be ok, but I have never heard of an egg having this much fluid and making it.. I know, I searched.. They are alive and moving but I don't want them to suffer through trying to hatch either just to have them die!

We have a pip! Today is day 20!

These are white and black Bresse eggs I picked up from an hour away. Yay! This egg is one who's air cell looked closer to normal.. Hoping the others will join in on the fun! my humidity is up to 65% now.

please help.....saddle shaped air cell.... I am locking down tomorrow, do I hatch this egg upright in a carton or lay it down? and if in a carton what are the benefits?
