Hello everyone!
I had a question I was hoping those more experienced with hatching than me might be able to help me with: I have had two hatches in my Brinsea min advanced. Both time I set 7 eggs. Both times there were no profound misadventures regarding temp or anything like that. Both times involved shipped eggs. Both times, the eggs arrived in apparent good condition. Both times, only one chick hatched, though each time that chick was vigorous and healthy.
This time, I made myself do an eggtopsy. There were fully formed chicks with absorbed yolks.
What is going wrong?
I live in a high altitude, arid desert. The eggs were shipped from California. I am suspicious that it is a some interaction between the humidity and lower air pressure suffocating the chicks in shell, but how do I fix it? The first time, I followed the manufacturers directions, the second I tried to operate on a slightly lower humidity and temp, as the hygrometer indicated both were too high.
Any ideas or suggestions? I hate to be killing chicks like this!
