Jan./Feb. 2014 hatch a long

Okay so my mother just informed me that for my birthday in march she is buying me a second incubator lol so I will have one for incubating one for hatching my worry about hatching duck and chicken eggs together has been cured wonder if my mother even realizes she's just feeding my addiction???? Now to find some sizzle eggs and hope to find them in time to make them hatch on my Bday March 10th

Well we had 4 hatch tonight! I am broadcasting live at http://ustre.am/19TQv if anyone wants to check on them overnight. I have 18 due Thursday, and 6 more from this batch that technically aren't due until tomorrow. Feel free to check it out! I warn you though, my crazy family is filling up the chat room with ridiculousness.

I debated leaving the four hatchlings in the incubator overnight. When I walked away (aka, unglued my eyes from the window for the first time in hours) I heard screeching. I rushed back over to investigate and one of the little buggers was swimming in the humidity water dish. Into the brooder they go!

Now i'm going to worry about the three pipped ones and the three that haven't pipped yet all night.

We are now entering day 19 Eggs felt heavey last night. I put them round the edge of the bator away from the direct heat and filled the bottom water trough up to the neck. I also placed some cut up foam dish cleaners round the edge between the eggs. I am going to put Straws in the holes in the bator top and syring water into the sponges to keep humidity up a few times a day other than that I don't intend to get stressed or do much. This time it has felt so much better - in that I have not done anything and not hung over the bator quite so much. - I wonder if they will hatch?

I fixed this by bending a piece of hardware cloth to sit down over my dish. No more swimmers since.

My friend hatched 12 of my eggs. 1 got glued to the shell during zipping and didn't make it. All of the rest are great. They are now about 6 weeks and it looks like only 2 boys.

She just hatched another batch and only one of my eggs didn't hatch. I hope they are mostly hens again. That would be so great if the magic hen mojo is in my flock. There are 3 Blue Copper Marans. I am so excited to see how they turn out. Has anyone ever consistently hatched mostly boys or mostly girls?

Max made it thru thenight and came in this morning when I fed the others. He is so proud of himself for being a grown turkey and came right in for breakfast. Just like a teenager.

Day 24 and still nothing think I can safely call this hatch a wash nothing out of 36 eggs 26 of them which looked promising all the way up too lock down so depressing.

I just went through this... Take heart, sometimes we cannot control everything... I'm going to be setting more today... Found a guy who will sell me 24 barnyard mix heritage breeds, adding 16 of my own... I think my problem was where I had the incubator and so I have moved it back to the spare room where I can more easily control the room temperatures..

It was hard to open up all those eggs and see fully formed babies , some with the yolk fully absorbed...
