Jan./Feb. 2014 hatch a long

Out of the 33 eggs that I set this is what we got:

19 hatched (2 boys, 13 girls, and 4 unsexed) - 18 EE's and 1 Ameraucana
2 due to hatch on Friday
8 didn't make it (most were shrink wrapped)
4 rotten eggs

Most babies are healthy, one has a balance problem (legs and feet seem fine?), one was fine after hatch yesterday but is floppy this morning.

Zipping!!!

Ok so I'm in again... Just set 39 barnyard mutts and 3 welsummers (sp).... haven't added water yet, waiting for the incubator to stabilize and see where its at.. I've heard such great things about doing a dry hatch but I am alittle afraid to do it right now.. I need some chicks to replace a few of my older hens and to be layers through next winter... after this hatch I may do a test hatch and do it dry to see how it does..

But in the meantime

The long wait and stress begins again!!!

Poor thing is exhausted
Awe! Cute! This time around, I have put all of my eggs in a carton, and though they're only on day 2, I am wondering how well the chicks do with hatching while in the carton? You've only had one so far, and it looks like it's a good method. I am just curious as to what happens if they happen to pip at the wrong end! :)
