So crap. We lost power yesterday morning about 6:30 am. didn't wake up until 8:15.
Got the bator wrapped in towels and next to our woodstove. Except you can't regulate that heat very well so I've either chilled or cooked them.

power came back on about an hour ago. Got it plugged back in, realized they're supposed to go into lockdown tonight, tapped off the water well and am just gonna step back and cross my fingers.

.
Hope everyone else is have a less stressful go of it!

HOLY CRAP I have like six pages to catch up on!!!! I have been in hatching land for the last 36hrs.. feels like four days have passed LOL

almost all the chicks are out! sadly 1 died in shell before I could assist it :(
and there is 1 egg left who has pipped internally but not externally. it's a large egg so I am giving it a little extra time!

and now... pictures!!!!!!!!

the first pip........

she's starting to zip!

hooray! she finally has a friend

BFFs

starting to turn into little fuzzbutts....

moved the first 5 to the brooder, this is underneath the Brinsea EcoGlow brooder (ambient heat panel)

Faverolles day 19, no internal pips yet!

So out of the 16 eggs I put in my incubators only seven were good candidates for lockdown. One of the seven hatched on day 20, since then there has been no movement whatsoever. Could this be a bad sign??
are there any pips right now?
if there are no pips, you could open the incubator to candle them quickly. you can look for internal pips this way. make sure the room is completely dark!
my little frizzles eggs are due to hatch this weekend but it's 18 degrees out there...she's dedicated to them but they don't feel warm enough to me...we shall see

my candy corn polish are in lock down...due Sat.!! really looking forward to them

my hubby had a disk replaced in his neck yesterday...I can't get to the hospital due to the snow storm...BOO
he's nice and drugged so I don't think he cares right now lol

I hope your husband recovers quickly

it started snowing here in Oregon today... about 5 inches outside and it's still coming down!
I went outside with the "big chicks" (what do you call them? teenagers? lol they are 12 weeks) to check on them in the snow. They came out of the house for treats but they went right back in. I took new waterers down to them because they were frozen solid! Usually I can chip the ice out and it isn't solid like that.
I want to take a space heater down there for them but I question whether they need it or not. It feels really cold to me, I hope they are okay! I have never had chicks this age in snow before (19F here)
