I'm sorry your hatch is late. I'd give it a couple more days if it doesn't smell bad. Also, have you candled to see if there's any movement? Good luck!!
No - this time we didn;t do anything Just let it run. - We will be Float testing before tossing of course. But as for anything else NO. The hatch isn't very late. - I have had live hatches very late indeed day 27/28 before and those survived with help. So I am loath to give up until after day 27. I don;t open the Bator during Lockdown so no would never lift an egg to candle or anything else unless float testing - as a last resort. You can disoriantate a chick if you turn the eggs late on. The eggs are heavy - so I guess there is something in there. Whether it is a live chick or not remains to be seen. Nothing happening still here. Not a thing.

Oes

As much as I love all of my babies, sometimes I miss the simple days of having only 8. My first babies coming in for the night thru the doggie door.

So final hatch results: 4 out of 16 hatched. Eggtopsies were done and it appears I lost about 5 chicks at the lockdown stage. All were fully formed but hadn't absorbed their yolks. Maybe my temps were too high? Humidity was always in the 60's range. Temp did get up to 102 and kinda lingered there. Maybe that did them in? Oh well, I'll give it another go around in April.

I am really sorry. Good luck next time.

Five days til hatch, and I have seen one of the five remaining eggs wiggle. Upon further candling it looks like the aircells were pretty badly detached. No surprise considering they were on their sides and could shake around inside of the box when I got 'em. I have no idea if anything is growing still in the other four or not but I see some dark veining still so we'll see. When should I stop turning?

Jan; where did you get YOUR wheaten Amer's from?
