Janoel 12 incubator

Very cool! I live out in the boonies, power outs are very common here...so I know the panic feeling when I first experienced it. Now I just throw a few extra towels over it and cant say I ever lost a batch to power loss...a few as long as 6 hrs. Your gonna be a seasoned pro after your first hatch!
Same! I’m in a rural area I lose power all the time.

Has anyone used the Janoel 12 for shipped eggs? I have 18 shipped eggs in it currently (vertical in cut down egg cartons) I am wonder the best way to turn them. I am not sure if I should tilt the whole incubator with a towel or and tilt them. Anyone have any experience with this?

yes...I have never used the auto turner in mine. I use a door stop wedge moved from one side to the other to rock the whole incubator. Has worked very well for me. I try to rock it 3 to 5 times a day. no need to start rock'n until day 3. At lockdown I take them out of rack and lay them on their side. And no more rock'n.

And yes to I have hatched many shipped eggs this way with good luck. Depends a lot on if the American tourister gorilla gets hold of your eggs while at usps....May want to request seller to hold at PO for you to pick up. I had one shipment delivered into my black mail box on a hot day....they were poached in just a couple hours!

Thank you I will do this. Shipper did write call for pick up at P.O. but to my post office that must mean make it your last stop then beep the horn in the driveway, because that is what they did. Air cells didn’t look too bad a few were juggling but they all were pretty small so they appear fresh. I let them set for 24 hours then put in the incubator Sunday evening. So Today is day 3, I have folded up a blanket. This is how I have it, will this be ok moving the blanket roll from the front to back?

Got 5 in the brooder and 1 zipping when I left to work this morning....6 for 13 so far from shipped eggs from Texas. Very dark shelled olive eggers so could not see squat via candling....Will see if I can get over the 50% shipped egg standard!

I just stuffed 24 eggs in mine. A lot of small ones from the chickens my neighbor calls fancy feet and her copper maran rooster and a bunch from my egg layers and my two mixed roosters and a mystery egg from the feed room. I just lost my four chicks I hatched to an unexpected guinea attack. Sad but I shouldn’t have left them in the lawn unsupervised. The guineas need to go though. They are just MEAN.

Sorry to hear about your loss...I ended up with 8 healthy chicks out of 13. 3 eggs never developed and the other two were very developed just never hatched, not sure why but for mail order eggs I guess that's better than good!
