JANUARY 2015 Hatch-A-Long

Yeah, guess I should specify, "during lockdown". I have a turner and I still handle all mine every few days. :)

ah yeah, lockdown. It's hard to resist candling every day. :D
I'm on the second day of lockdown. This is my first lockdown where the temp and humidity are staying where I want them. Last time I had to keep opening the incubator to add or remove water.

That's great!! Good luck. What are you hatching again?

Congrats :celebrate

I've just had number 5 hatch :yesss: 6 more with pips and 3 not showing any action. Day 20 for these though :cd

woot! already I have 2 cornish and the green ee egg hatched a feather leg baby, so there are more chickens involved at the place I got my eggs, will be a surprise batch

The AMs and the Orps came from the same breeder. (I really wanted the buff Orps for my husband as his pet, Buffy, was killed last spring. I looked to see what else she was selling and saw the AMs--I've kinda been wanting some so I got those too, just to have something else to throw in the bator.) I don't know them and don't know anything about their birds. The pics of the parent Orps were gorgeous. I still have just the three Orps hatched out. I'll send some pics. Need advice on what to do with them....

Chick A: About 36 hours old. Lays on side, can't stand on feet. I tried putting it in a little plastic fruit cup, but it kept turning it over. Right eye is not formed correctly.

Is there anything I can do for it? Let nature take its course? Or go ahead and "cull" it?

Chicks B and C

B is about 24 hours old and severely cross-beaked.

C hatched sometime during the night (was stuck all day yesterday with only a dime size hole. Last night, I cracked the shell just a little and put a few drops of warm water on it to help it detach from the shell and then left it alone. It finished hatching sometime during the night). C is now about 12 hours old and just flops around on its back.

Again, can I do something to help, do nothing, or euthanize?
