JANUARY 2015 Hatch-A-Long

Well, my hatch is done. I think it is safe to say the one that kicked out and bled will make it now. 5 chicks! Not the best from 18 eggs, but they are Serama from across the country so I'm far from disappointed. They are all learning to eat and drink, playing in their "sand box" like a bunch of nerds More eggs should be arriving Monday. Only 6 this time. Looking for another 6 more, but I'll probably have to stagger the hatch a little.
Very cute babies! What incubator did you use? You have a brinsea mini, right? Would you mind taking a look at my egg weights from my post yesterday and comment on whether or not I need to somehow adjust my humidity please? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

@HerbGirl1972
I checked my eggs Friday, had to pitch 2 brown eggs with blood rings, but 10/12 ain't bad! All 5 of my Silkie eggs are doing well!

I wish my Brinsea Spot Check would hurry up and get here :barnie I was hoping to use it during this incubation, but I guess not. It'll probably arrive just after the chicks hatch, knowing my luck :/

Woke up this morning to my marans egg (Blue Copper) actively zipping! Day 22...for some reason they're always late in my incubator. The chick hatched out black, so FINALLY there's a black copper marans in my coop.

It feels like Christmas!

congrats, hope it's a pullet for you!

Finally got my eggs in the incubator late last night. I woke up a couple times to check on temp/humidity but it was rising so I didn't worry too much.

I am 2nd guessing using 2 thermometers in their though. The one thermometer that I thought was most accurate is jumping all over the place and the one I used with my first hatch hasn't gone above 97 yet. I'm inclined to take the new one out and rely on my old one as I kept it at 100 last hatch and out of 12 eggs I only had 1 blood ring and 1 clear and the other 10 made it just fine to lockdown. So anyway I am feeling like I should just trust that thermometer since I know my last chicks grew just fine with it instead of making myself crazy with 2 thermometers in their.
400

Ended up with 28 eggs... I was only planning on setting 18, chicken math!
2 ameraucana
4 leghorn
1 polish
3 polish or silkie
2 Sicilian buttercups
1 California white
4 buckeye
3 black sexlinks
And 8 that I'm not sure about, could be delaware, barred rock, rir.

I'm so excited and I hope I get more than 1 out of all these eggs. Can't wait to candle on saturday to see how my eggs are doing.

oh and I'm weighing them to adjust humidity as needed throughout, hoping that will solve my issue that I had last hatch.

That's quite an assortment of eggs!   Did you get them all from one source?
I got 23 from one person..I only asked for 18 but he is not certain they are all fertile so threw in 5 extra. When he threw in a leghorn I wasn't expected and hubby saw we got a leghorn he was excited, then realized we only had 1 so I found another person that had Leghorns and got 3 from him along with a polish (I really want a polish and since I don't know if the other 3 are silkie or polish I took his polish egg) and another ameraucana from the 2nd person.
