JANUARY 2015 Hatch-A-Long

it is not a heat lamp, just a light bulb temp was 100 for the eggs., this was not my incubation set up, but since I was going to be gone a few days I wanted them to hatch in the brooder, and set them up in there day 18 when I left.

I have never used a "real" incubator, or a hydrometer.

my last batch was ice chest I made my self...

I have hatched in cardboard boxes, my latest is a combo.

broodies work well too.

The most I have hatched from a small box was 8, but I like to do smaller groups than that, The summer is best for a cardboard box. I like putting six or so in a box this size.

eggs go on one end heat on the other. 15 w light bulb

---------------------------------------------> eggs would go on this end.

This is my broody Daphne on eggs, I would like her to hatch than have an incubator going but it is 20 degrees, she can cover that many eggs, but 17 eggs is too much for one bantam broody to hatch. 9/10 would have been better.

Today Daphne was laying an egg and sitting on someone elses eggs. when I took them away, she lifted herself to look at the eggs in my hands as if to say, "hey those are mine!"

that is awesome... Do you raise humidity close to the end? If so...How?
